Register for a program/competition

Once your organisation is registered on Piclo, the next step is to complete the qualification process for each relevant program or competition you plan to participate in.

Pre‑qualification requirements overview

  • Pre‑qualification: Program or network operators may require organisations offering flexibility to pre‑qualify as the contracting entity before entering a competitive auction process.
  • Varying requirements: Each program or network operator has its own set of pre‑qualification criteria, so not all requirements will apply to every opportunity.

Pre‑qualification requirements and process

  • Documentation requirements: The qualification process typically requires company documentation such as insurance certificates and audited financial accounts. A signed contract (for example, a Framework Agreement) may also need to be uploaded to the platform by the program or network operator.
  • Eligibility: Assets from organisations offering flexibility will not be eligible for competitions requiring qualification until that organisation has been approved by the program or network operator.
  • Timing: Begin the application process well in advance, as it can take time for submissions to be reviewed and finalised.
  • Form details: Information in the qualification form should relate to the contracting entity that will sign agreements with the program or network operator. If you represent multiple contracting entities. For instance, accounts for multiple customers or special purpose vehicles, explain this in the form. You may upload additional supporting documents as ZIP files if you need to include materials for multiple entities.

The process is as follows:

  • In the Manage tab, go to Applications to view the available applications for each program or network operator.
  • Select the relevant application and click Apply.
  • Fill in all required fields. You’ll need to provide documentation about your organisation, such as insurance policies, audited accounts. Depending on your region and the program or network operator, you may also need to upload a signed contract (for example, a Framework Agreement or another equivalent agreement specific to the program).
  • Once you submit the application, the program or network operator is notified. They will review your submission and either approve or reject it.
  • If your application is rejected, the program or network operator will usually email you the reason. You can edit and resubmit the application as many times as needed.
  • If approved, you’ll receive an email confirmation. Your organisation can now participate in auctions (subject to any asset qualification processes).

Please note: no assets will qualify for a competition where an application has not yet been completed and approved. It is heavily advised to begin the application process in advance as it may take time for operators to review and confirm applications.
